Nextipac Chapel

It is a Franciscan temple built in the eighteenth century. Saint James, son of Zebedee (also called Santiago Apóstol or Santo Santiago) is the patron saint of this chapel, however the place bears the name of the community where it is located. From July 25 to 27, a festival is celebrated in St. James honor, during which the local residents perform the Tastoanes traditional dance (a very famous tradition in Zapopan). The dance reenacts a battle between the Natives and the Spaniards who in the end are victorious thanks to the power of Santo Santiago.
